When I was small girl, I remember my grandma keeping small dabba of Multani mitti inside her wooden cupboard. Anytime my amma’s face gets pimples or looking dull, my grandma will tell, “Apply Multani mitti ma, it will drink all oil like how crow drinks water fast.

What Is This Multani Mitti Actually?

Multani mitti is like soft clay powder. People call it fuller's earth also. It got its name because it was found first in place called Multan, in Pakistan. But here in India, every house is having it. My mummy keeps it in bathroom shelf, she mix with rose water and apply on face before festival or wedding, to look fresh and bright.

This Multani mitti has so much minerals and it is very smooth texture. When you put water or milk and mix it, it becomes nice paste and easy to apply on face.

Health Benefits Of Multani Mitti:

✔️ Takes away extra oil: Multani mitti is like sponge, it will suck all extra oil from face, making face look fresh and not sticky.

✔️ Stops pimples and acne: My grandma says it removes poison from pimples and cool down the face.

✔️ Removes pigmentation: Dark spots and marks slowly goes when using multani mitti pack often.

✔️ Cools the face: After applying, you will feel so cool like putting ice on face in hot summer.

✔️ Clean the pores: It pulls out dirt and sweat sitting inside skin pores.

✔️ Makes face tight and glowing: When it dries, it tightens face skin, increases blood flow, giving nice rosy glow.

🌸 Multani mitti was used by queens and princess before going to royal court.

🌸 Some people mix with water and use as dry shampoo for hair cleaning.

🌸 Long time back people used multani mitti for washing woollen shawls because it cleans deeply.

🌸 Potter people also use it for making crafts because it is very fine clay.

Easy Homemade Multani Mitti Face Packs:

1. Face Cleansing And Brightening Pack:

This is my amma’s favourite. Take 1 spoon Naturals multani mitti, half spoon Naturals sandalwood powder, ¼ spoon Naturals skinbath powder, and 1 spoon Naturals rose water or fresh milk. Mix nicely like dosa batter but little thick.

How to use: Apply on face and neck. Leave until fully dry. Wash with cool water. Face will look bright, clean, and soft like baby cheek.

2. Pigmentation Removal Pack:

For removing dark spots or small marks, take 1 spoon Naturals multani mitti, mix with Naturals neem powder or fresh neem paste. Add rose water to make semi-paste.

How to use: Apply only on spots or pigmented areas. Leave till it dries. Wash with normal water. Neem will kill bacteria, remove pimples and marks. My grandma used to say, “Neem and multani mitti is like Ram Lakshman for your face.”

3. Oily Skin Face Pack:

If your face is oily like fried bhajiya, use this. Take 1 spoon Naturals multani mitti, ¼ spoon Naturals skinbath powder, 1 spoon lemon juice, 1 spoon honey. Mix well to thick paste.

How to use: Apply all over face. Leave till fully dry. It will pull out oil and tighten skin nicely. Wash with cool water and see the magic.

Can We Eat Multani Mitti?

No no, please don’t do that. My grandma used to joke, “Multani mitti is for face only, not for chutney.” 😂 It has no culinary use, it is only for external use like face, body, and hair packs.

Today we spend so much money in parlour for facial and glow creams. But this small box of multani mitti is giving same result without any chemical. Pimples, marks, dullness, oil – all it removes. My grandma always told me, Use what nature gave us, you no need foreign cream.
